Associate Professor Dr. Mohamed Fairooz Abdul Khir
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fairooz Abdul Khir is a panel on the Shariah Committee for Maybank Islamic Berhad and MNRB Holdings Berhad . He was recently appointed as member of Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) for Securities Commission of Malaysia and member of Shariah Compliance Committee for Farmers’ Organization Authority of Malaysia. He is also a registered Shariah Adviser for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic Securities (Sukuk) with the Securities Commission of Malaysia. He was first involved as a panel on Agrobank’s Shariah Committee in August 2012. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage majoring in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) and Master in Shariah from University of Malaya (UM). He then pursued his doctoral studies in the Islamic Banking field also in University of Malaya. He was previously a researcher at the International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA). As ISRA researcher, he is actively involved in research and publications on Shariah and fatwa issues related to the Islamic economy, banking and finance. He then pursued his career as Assoc. Prof. at Islamic University of Malaysia. Until now, he is entrusted to be the Chairman for the Bank’s (Agrobank) Shariah Committee.
Dr. Mohamad Sabri Zakaria
He is an Assistant Professor at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah from Al-Azhar University, Egypt. Subsequently, he pursued his Master’s in Islamic Economy at Yarmouk University, Jordan. Following that, he pursued his doctoral studies at the IIUM in Fiqh and Usul Fiqh. He is well versed in Usul Fiqh and has served as a Shariah Committee Member at several banking and takaful institutions apart from being an academician concentrates on teaching, supervision and producing articles related to banking and Islamic contemporary issues. Dr Mohamad Sabri is also a Member of Shariah Committee at Great Eastern Takaful Sdn. Bhd and MIDF Group and was also the Shariah Adviser at Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad 2006 – 2012.
Y.M. Engku Ahmad Fadzil bin Y.M. Engku Ali
Ust. Engku Ahmad Fadzil bin Engku Ali has obtained his early education at Malay College Kuala Kangsar until 1986. He has furthered his study in a Bachelor Degree in Laws (Second Class Honors Upper) from International Islamic University of Malaysia and graduated in 1993. In the subsequent year, he graduated from the same university with a Bachelor Degree in Shariah Law with First Class Honors. He was called to the bar, admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1995. He then pursued his studies at Jordan University and in the year 2000, he successfully obtained a Masters Degree in Islamic Judiciary. Since then, he served as a lecturer at International Islamic University of Malaysia. Some of the subjects that he teaches are Islamic Law of Successions, Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic Criminal Laws. Currently, he is Senior Fellow at Institut Kajian Strategik Islam Malaysia (IKSIM). Now he is one of the members of the Bank’s Shariah Committee.
Tn. Haji Azizi bin Che Seman
Ust. Azizi Che Seman is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, a position he has held since 2002. He is entrusted to be the Chairman for Shariah Committee of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad. He has also been appointed as Chairman of Shariah Advisor of AIBIM and Chairman of Shariah Advisor of IBFIM. In terms of qualification, he holds a Master Degree in Economics from International Islamic University of Malaysia in 2001 and a Bachelor of Shariah from University of Malaya in 1996. His specialisation areas are in Islamic Capital Market, Islamic Economics, Fiqh Muamalat and Islamic Research Methodology.
Tn. Haji Jahaidi bin Harun
Tn. Haji Jahaidi bin Harun.He is an ex-Islamic banking practitioner with wide exposure in Islamic banking industry in Malaysia and Indonesia. He obtained his first degree in Bachelor of Economic (Hons) from University Malaya in 1978. After graduation, he joined Maybank in branch banking and has since held several positions in Maybank such as Branch Manager for 5 branches, Head Commercial Business Perak State, Head of Sales Islamic Banking Division, Project Manager for the conversion of Maybank Islamic Division to Maybank Islamic Bhd (MIB), Head of Sale Corporate & Commercial MIB, Head Risk Management MIB, Project Manager for conversion of PT Maybank Indocorp to PT Maybank Syariah Indonesia (MSI), Head Strategic Management and Product Development for MSI.
Dr. Ahmad Dahlan Salleh
Dr. Ahmad Dahlan Salleh is currently a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He graduated with a bachelor degree in Syariah from Al-Azhar University, Egypt in 1998. He later obtained a Master degree in Islamic Law (Cairo University) in 2005 and a PhD in Islamic Finance and Banking System from University of Wales in 2012. He started his career as a tutor in 2005 at Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM and served as a lecturer since 2006. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate level students and specializes in the subjects of Shariah such as Islamic commercial law, Islamic legal maxim and other related areas of Islamic banking and finance. He has written various articles and journals in Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic Economics and Islamic Commercial Law for forums and seminars.
