Ustaz Wan Rumaizi bin W.Husin @ Abdul Aziz
Ustaz Wan Rumaizi holds the position of Chairman of Agrobank’s Shariah Committee starting from 1st June 2024 and has been appointed as a Member of the Shariah Committee of Agrobank since June 2023. He is the former lecturer at the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh at the Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He obtained his first degree and master’s degree both in fiqh and usul al-fiqh respectively from Al al-Bayt University, Jordan and IIUM.
He actively delivers speeches and specialized training on Shariah in the areas of fiqh mualamat and Islamic economics, as well as medical fiqh. Currently he serves as the Chairman of Shariah Committee and Independent Non-Executive Director of AEON Bank (M) Berhad, Shariah Committee Member of Lembaga Tabung Haji, Shariah Committee Member of MNRB Holding Berhad, Wakaf Committee of Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan, Panel Consultant Member for International Research Centre in Islamic Economy and Finance (IRCIEF), KUIS, Consultant for Sadaqah House, IRCEIF-IDB, KUIS, Member of International Union for Muslim Scholars (Ittihad al-‘Alami li ‘Ulama’ al-Muslimin), Qatar and also ASAS Exco Member.
Previously, he was appointed as the Chairman of Shariah Committee for Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia, Shariah Committee Member of Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad, Shariah Committee Member of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia (BKRM), Shariah Committee Representative to BKRM’s BOD Meeting and JAKIM’s Muamalat Panel of Expert.

Dr. Shafaai bin Musa
Dr. Shafaai received his first degree in Shariah from Al-Azhar University as the best student of the faculty of Shariah in 1991. He then successfully completed his master’s degree in Comparative Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and subsequently obtained a doctorate from Glasgow Caledonian University both under the IIUM sponsorship scheme.
Dr. Shafaai started his career as an assistant lecturer at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws in 1992. In 2002, he served as Head of the Department of Islamic Law for three years and later was seconded to IIUM Centre For Continuing Education as Executive Director. In 2010, he was seconded to International Islamic College as Chief Executive Officer until December 2012, followed by a secondment to the office of Chief Minister of Johor as CEO of Johor Institute of Integrity, Leadership and Training for two years.
In the Islamic banking industry, Dr. Shafaai was appointed as the Chairman of the Shariah Committee at Southern Bank Berhad in 2004. He later joined CIMB Islamic Bank as a Member of the Shariah Committee since 2006 and was appointed as Chairman in 2019. Additionally, He has served Celcom Axiata as Shariah Advisor, Sun Life Malaysia and CIMB Aviva Takaful as the Chairman of the Shariah Committee. Apart from being a Member of the Shariah Committee at Agrobank, he serves as the Chairman of the Shariah Committee and Independent Non-Executive Director at Public Islamic Bank Berhad and as a Member of the Shariah Advisory Body of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad. In a re-takaful industry, Dr. Shafaai serves as the Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council of Reinsurance Group of America Retakaful since 2009.

Dr. Abdullaah bin Jalil
Dr. Abdullaah currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). He has twenty years of teaching, writing, research and advisory experience in the fields of muamalat, Islamic banking and finance. He has involved in the field of academic writing in addition to paper presentations at national and international seminars and conferences related to muamalat, Islamic banking, Islamic finance and Islamic social finance.
He was an alumnus of the Sultan Ahmad Shah Islamic College (KISAS) before completing his Bachelor of Shariah (Fiqh and Islamic Studies) with first class honours from Yarmouk University, Jordan. He later continued and completed his studies in Master of Business Administration (Islamic Banking and Finance) program at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic finance at INCEIF (The Global University of Islamic Finance). In 2012, he was appointed as one of the Expert Panel for the development of Program Standards: Muamalat and Islamic Finance under the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Apart from being a Member of the Shariah Committee of Agrobank, he currently holds the position of Chairman of the Shariah Committee at Mizuho Bank (Malaysia). He used to serve as a Member of the Shariah Committee for Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia from 2012 to 2021. He is also a Member of the USIM Shariah Panel Committee since its inception, one of the Fatwa Research Panels at the Negeri Sembilan Mufti Department and a Member of the State Fatwa Committee (Jawatankuasa Perundingan Hukum Syarak) at the Pahang Mufti Department.

Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah binti Syed Alwi
Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah is currently a professor at Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Her lectures in UiTM and visiting professorship assignment in Indonesia cover among others usul al-fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), fiqh muamalat (Islamic law of transaction), Islamic finance, sustainable finance and Islamic financial regulatory framework and governance. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Shariah (Economics) and her master’s degree in Shariah (Islamic Banking) from Universiti Malaya in 1995 and 2004 respectively. She then obtained her doctoral degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2012. At the same time, she is also one of the Panels of Assessor of Malaysian Qualifications Agency and the external examiner/assessor for Islamic banking and finance programmes offered in a few universities in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Brunei. Her area of expertise is more into the application of Shariah in Islamic banking and finance products especially in Islamic trade finance facilities.
Previously, Professor Dr. Sharifah Faigah was appointed as a Shariah Committee Member at Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad while currently serves at Agrobank, Maybank Islamic Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad and Etiqa General Takaful Berhad as one of the Shariah Committee Members.

Professor Datin Dr. Rusni binti Hassan
Professor Datin Dr. Rusni Hassan was appointed as Agrobank’s Shariah Committee Member since 1st June 2024. She is a Professor and Dean at the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF). She graduated with an LLB (Honours) and an LLB (Shariah) (First Class), a Master of Comparative Laws (MCL) and a Ph.D. in Law. Her areas of specialization include in Shariah, Governance and Regulatory Aspects of Islamic Banking and Finance.
Professor Datin Dr. Rusni is also actively involved in the IBF industry as a Member of Shariah Advisory Council Bank Negara Malaysia from 2010 to 2016 and the Shariah Committee for a number of institutions in Malaysia including Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) as well as Waqf Al-Nur, Koperasi J-Corp, Terengganu Incorporation and Lembaga Tabung Haji. Currently, she is a Board Member for Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP). Internationally, she is the Shariah Committee for Housing Development Corporation, Maldives. She is a registered Shariah Adviser with the Securities Commission Malaysia. She was instrumental for the establishment of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) and the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE) whereby she was pro-tem committee, Secretary and the Executive Committee for both associations respectively. She is now serving as the Advisory Board for ASAS.
Her works and contribution to Islamic finance has also been recognized internationally when she was listed as The Top 10 Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance by Cambridge IFA for five consecutive years since 2018 until 2023. Her contribution to Islamic Finance in Maldives was recognized by the Government of Maldives when she was awarded the National-Recognition for Outstanding Contribution of Females to Develop and Sustain Islamic Finance Industry in Maldives in 2018. Her recent award is the Murabbi Award 2024 for her outstanding contribution in education particularly in Islamic banking and finance.

Puan Shabnam binti Mohamad Mokhtar
Puan Shabnam was appointed as Agrobank’s Shariah Committee Member since 1st June 2024. She received her bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2001 and completed her master’s degree of Science in Accounting from University of Illinois in 2003. She has also obtained several postgraduate certificates from Middlesex University, London in Mechanics of Fintech and A.I, Mechanics of Project Finance, and Mechanics of International Trade Finance. She secured her Certified Shariah Adviser & Auditor (CSAA) qualification from Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in 2018 and also a Member of Association of Shariah Advisor in Islamic Finance (ASAS).
She is presently the Managing Director of SHAPE® Knowledge Services; an Islamic finance consulting firm. Puan Shabnam spearheads research and development activities including financial analysis, strategic & business plan formulation, design and implementation of customized survey, research and training for different clients at SHAPE®. She was also appointed as the Securities Commission-Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies Visiting Fellow in Islamic Finance for 2021/2022. Puan Shabnam is also a Member of Shariah committee at AIA Public Takaful Berhad and was previously entrusted as a Member of Shariah committee at RHB Islamic. She is a Member of the Values and Ethics Committee of Algbra, a fintech company based in the UK. From 2010 to 2014, she was in the Shariah Advisory Panel of the Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad and formerly headed the capital markets research for the International Shariah Research Academy (ISRA), an institution established by Bank Negara Malaysia. She has conducted various training programs on Islamic banking, sukuk & Islamic capital market products, risk management and financial reporting for clients in the ASEAN region, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European market. She has also contributed to the writing of chapters in Housing the Nation (Cagamas 2013), Managing Fund Flows, Risks and Derivatives: Applications in Islamic Institutions (Sweet & Maxwell 2012), Islamic Financial System: Principles & Operations Market (ISRA, 2011, 2022), Sukuk (Sweet & Maxwell 2009) and Partnership Accounting, Principles and Practice (McGraw Hill).
