Agrobank Recognises Media Practitioners At The Agrobank Media Awards 2023/2024



PETALING JAYA, 29 MAY 2024 – Agrobank today honoured the outstanding work of eighteen (18) media practitioners at the Agrobank Media Awards 2023/2024 held at Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya. The event aims to:

  • Recognise media practitioners for their contributions in disseminating coverage and publicity about the primary agriculture sector.
  • Appreciate current news reports covering Agrobank’s initiatives and roles as a financial institution responsible for executing its developmental and commercial roles to benefit the agricultural sector.

Agrobank President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said, “Agrobank received over 130 entries across six (6) contested categories. Agrobank is offering cash rewards totaling nearly RM200,000 to the winners, along with attractive prizes such as electric scooters, Android TVs, PlayStation 5, and more to celebrate our media partners at this prestigious award.”

“In conjunction with National Journalists’ Day 2024, we wish to express our gratitude to media partners for their contributions to nation-building and hope that more key industry players will join in elevating the country’s media landscape. Agrobank’s commitment to celebrating the diversity of journalistic works is also evident through our sponsorship for Malaysian Journalism Night 2024. Through such journalistic works, we can strengthen Agrobank’s image as a Development Financial Institution (DFI) that plays a significant role in contributing to the agricultural sector and food security,” he added.

He further commented, “Through the recognition of this award, Agrobank hopes that media partners will continue to be motivated to uplift the journalism industry and produce quality works amidst the challenges of the digitalisation and globalisation era. Their achievements are a testament to the dedication and hard work invested in elevating the field of journalism.”

The event, themed “80s Rock ‘N Roll,” was graced by distinguished guests from various mainstream and digital media groups and platforms, including Datuk Mustapa Omar (Chief Executive Officer of MPI), Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman (NSTP), Zamri Rambli (Sinar Harian), Kamaruddin Mape (Media Prima), Lydia Wang (The Star) and Ismail Daud (Media Mulia). Agrobank also presented souvenirs to appreciate the ongoing role and support of media partners in spreading information about Agrobank’s roles and initiatives in strengthening sustainability and food security agendas.
