Program Celik Wang Agrobank Didik Pelajar Mengenai Asas Pengurusan Wang



Kuala Lumpur Agrobank today organised a corporate responsibility programme known as Program Celik Wang held at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The programme was officiated by Mr. Suhaimi Ali, Director of Consumer and Market Conduct Department, Bank Negara Malaysia and also attended by President/ Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank, YBhg. Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman.

The programme is aimed to foster awareness on the importance of smart money management as well as to provide knowledge and the good tips on how to spend money wisely. Students from schools around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor participated in this programme.

According to Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, knowledge on financial management at a very young age is very important. This is due to the challenges such as needs versus wants faced by them who lack of financial management skills of which they may end up with unnecessary debts.

In 2015, there were 23,484 youths, age between 25 to 34 years old who were declared bankrupt. Therefore, the financial management talk is essential and beneficial to educate the youths in spending their money wisely and at the same time reducing the bankruptcy statistic in Malaysia.

Agrobank believes that awareness on managing money is important in building personal control factor specifically in the area of financial management in todays digital era says Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi.

According to En. Suhaimi Ali, Director of Consumer and Market Conduct, Bank Negara Malaysia in his speech, Bank Negara Malaysia is committed in delivering continuous financial education from young age to ensure financial literacy among society.

To achieve this, Bank Negara Malaysia has started collaborating with the Ministry of Education in integrating elements of financial education in the primary schools curriculum since 2014, and in 2017 for secondary schools student. The elements of financial education that have been implemented in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and Moral Studies subjects for Year 4 and 5. This is a positive step in educating students with good values who are financially literate, said Mr. Suhaimi Ali.

At the programme, students were introduced to the three (3) key elements in smart money management which are ‘Save, Spend and Share. Through these simple steps, students will understand the tips to save money in easy and effective way.

Most participants were excited with the activities and happy to set foot at the prestigious Bank Negara Malaysia galleries and museum. Mohd Shahrilrizam Mohd Zamrin, Year 5 student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Kuda, Klang said, œI feel excited to be in Bank Negara Malaysia today and honestly after being briefed about the ‘Save, Spend and Share’, I will try to be more disciplined in managing my pocket money.

Senior Assistant of Sekolah Kebangsaan Selayang Jaya, En. Mohamad Shahhir Bin Shaharani said the Save, Spend, and Share concept that was highlighted in this programme was really beneficial for students in developing their saving habit.

A total of 110 students from three (3) different schools namely SK Selayang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, SK Bukit Kuda, Klang and SK Sri Ceding, Banting participated in Program Celik Wang. The students also visited the interactive museum and the galleries including Galeri Wang for children, Numismatic Gallery featuring the history of money and Islamic Finance Gallery. This educational programme was conducted based on the Buku Wang Saku project initiated by Bank Negara Malaysia.
