Agrobank Offers Assistance to Flood Victims

KUALA LUMPUR – Agrobank today announced a relief assistance plan to help customers affected by the current flood disaster in the country. The plan includes a moratorium on monthly installment payment and financing reschedule plan for qualified customers. These plans are extended to Agrobank customers affected by the floods in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and other states nationwide.

According to Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank, the plan aims to assist and reduce the difficulties faced by customers. We are acutely aware of the hardship caused by current unprecedented levels of rainfall and flooding conditions particularly in the East Coast states. Many homes, businesses and farms have experienced severe damage and source of income may have been affected as well. We realise that some customers may need some reprieve in their financial obligations at this crucial time.

Therefore we are offering the assistance by way of moratorium and reschedule financing plan to qualified customers. The Bank will process the request for relief assistance on a case-to-case basis, explained Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi further. Agrobank had offered similar relief assistance plan to affected bank customer during previous flood incidents in Pahang last year.

Agrobank relief assistance plan includes

  • Moratorium of financing – for customers who lost source of income and projects damaged (80-100%) can be considered deferment of monthly instalments up to 12 months
  • Restructuring and rescheduling of financing for qualified customers affected by the flood disasters
  • Waiver of charges for affected customers seeking replacement of ATM cards and passbooks which have been destroyed in the floods.

Customers can call the Agrobank Customer Service number at 1 300 88 2476 or contact bank officers at the nearest Agrobank branch for further information on the assistance plan.

Agrobank is also supporting the Flood Relief Assistance programmes initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (MOA). Under the programmes, all agencies under MOA are working together and sharing resources to provide assistances to the flood victims nationwide. The assistance includes providing supplies such as drinking water, food, blankets, diapers etc.

Agrobank commends initiative led by MOA to pull resources from all agencies under MOA to help flood victims. We believe such collaboration creates better synergy to provide a more effective and efficient assistance to those affected by flood nationwide, said Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi.
