AGROBANK EXPANDS ITS FINANCIAL SERVICES WITH THE OPENING OF NEW COMMERCIAL FINANCING CENTRE IN HUTAN MELINTANG PERAK



Hutan Melintang – Agrobank today expanded its financial services by opening another Agrobank Commercial Financing Centre in Hutan Melintang, Perak. The launching was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Diraja Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Malaysia Deputy Prime Minister and accompanied by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry and YBhg Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank.

Agrobank Commercial Financing  Centre in Hutan Melintang is the second commercial centre after the Bank opened its first centre in Cameron Highland, Pahang last year. The Commercial Financing Centre is focusing in providing business advices and processing commercial financing under RM10 million. 

According to Ybhg Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank, the opening of Commercial Financing Centre in Hutan Melintang is Agrobank strategic initiatives as the location has great potential and prospect especially on agricultural based business.

Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi also added, Hutan Melintang has good potential and prospect for agricultural business especially aquaculture based industry. “Potential and prospect here in Hutan Melintang is huge and it encourage the Bank to open our commercial financing centre here. The potential can be seen on our business performance where this year alone (Januari 2017 – October 2017), Commercial Financing Centre in Hutan Melintang  has recorded financing with a total value of RM73.91mil.

The same opinion was shared by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Diraja Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who thinks that the potential and opportunities in agricultural industry in Perak especially in Bagan Datuk is very positive. Hence, with the opening of the Agrobank Commercial Financing Centre, it will increase the number of agricultural agropreneurs in the state of Perak.

“Bagan Datuk area covers 40% of the fishery activity from the overall economic resources in this area. Furthermore, this area is actively developing with the potential of livestock activities which has been gazetted under the Rungkup and Sg Pulau  Aquaculture Industrial Zone (ZIA) which covered  541.5ha and 120ha. Hence, with the opening of Agrobank’s commercial financing centre here, it will provide better financial access agricultural player around here,”said YB Dato ‘Sri Ahamd Zahid Hamidi in he said.

Through this new Commercial Financing Centre, Agrobank targets an increase in market share of 16% to 30% in two year period from its inception worth RM111.2 million this year to RM148 million in 2017.

In addition, Agrobank also provides developmental services to customers such as advice and through the implementation of entrepreneurial development programs in the field of agriculture which in line with government agenda through Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry which refers to National Nutrition Policy (2011-2020).

More than 700 guests attended the event. At the event, there were also a certificate presentation ceremony to excellent AGROAgent in Perak and the presentation of zakat to 160 Asnaf and Pusat Zakat as well presentation of special protection plan, Agro Nurani to 130 Person with Disabilities (PWD).
