Agenda Agro: A knowledge Sharing About Prospects and Opportunities in Agriculture
KUCHING, SARAWAK – Agrobank today continues its series of business talk known as Agenda Agro: Prospects and Opportunities in Agricultural Sector held in Kuching, Sarawak. 80 guests attended the event.
Sarawak is the third location chosen for Agenda Agro after Perlis and Pahang. The programme continues its objective to give exposure for Agrobanks clients through knowledge sharing session on the prospects and opportunities in agriculture sector. This programme also serves as an added value for the agriculture community to get latest updates on government policies in helping them to improve their level of income as well as the standard of their socio-economy.
According to Dato Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, President/Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank, Sarawak is one of the most active states in developing agriculture and agro-based activities. This is reflected in the increase of financing provided for agriculture sector recorded annually.
In 2015, total approved financing value by Agrobank for Sarawak was RM597.40 million. From this value, 82.70% was to finance the agriculture sector and agro based industry. This was in accordance with Agrobanks focus to develop the agriculture sector through a dynamic full value chain financing says Dato Wan Mohd Fadzmi.
In addition, Sarawak also recorded a commendable performance in deposit with total value exceeding RM588.00 million.
For this session of Agenda Agro, Encik Mohd Taufik Mahamad Zakaria, Head of Corporate and Strategic Planning of Agrobank shares information on the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK11) and its prospects and agricultural sector. While Encik Mohd Rusdi Hitam, Head of Trade Finance of Agrobank delivers information on trade finance products and services provided by Agrobank. Agrobank is the first Development Financial Institution (DFI) that operates its own trade finance services.
