PRESIDENT/CEO, WAN MOHD FADZMI LEAVES AGROBANK

KUALA LUMPUR – After six years at the helm of Agrobank and a successful transformation, Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman is stepping down as the President/Chief Executive Officer (P/CEO) of the government-owned bank.

Commenting on his experience with Agrobank, Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi said, “It has been an enormous privilege to have led Agrobank during an important period of transformation and growth.  My mission as a turnaround manager is finalised.  I am proud to have worked with remarkable colleagues who are so committed to growing the agriculture and food industry”.

Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi was appointed as the P/CEO of Agrobank in 2011.  Leveraging on his banking experience, working in major financial hubs such as London, New York and Hong Kong for more than 15 years, he then embarked on a five-year transformation programme. The transformation was developed with focus to strengthen the Bank’s foundation and its core businesses of serving the agriculture sector particularly the unserved and underserved community.

As a result of the transformation, Agrobank has made significant milestones; among others – revamping processes and procedures for better efficiency, reducing the Non Performing Finance (NPF) to a single digit and developing more innovative financial  products and services, relevant for the agriculture community

Last year, Agrobank recorded remarkable growth of 16.9% with total financing value reaching up to RM8.7 billion for the year 2016, despite global economic condition. This impressive performance is also one of the best achievements for Agrobank over the years.

During the transformation period, he also sets an ambitious target for Agrobank to be a full-fledged Islamic Bank within three years (by 2015), which was considered as ambitious by industry standard.

Under Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi’s leadership, Agrobank has received numerous international recognitions particularly in the area of financial inclusion and Islamic finance development.  Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi also received two international individual recognitions.  In 2016, he was has been awarded  the ‘CEO of the Year 2016′ award by the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) and in 2017 was awarded the “Outstanding CEO of the Year” by ADFIAP (the Association of Development Financing Institution in Asia and the Pacific).

Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi will leave Agrobank on the 31st of August 2017.  Puan Masaat Awadz, Chief Finance Officer of Agrobank  will  be covering the duties and roles of P/CEO.  The Board has begun a search for Dato’ Wan’s successor.
